peerspective windows installation instructions

PeerSpective 1.2 supports Windows XP and Vista machines. To install PeerSpective on your Windows machine, you need to download the PeerSpective installer and then edit your proxy settings. Follow the instructions below:

Requirements:

• Windows XP or Vista

• Skype must be installed

• You must have administrative rights on your machine

Installation Instructions:

• Check that Skype is running. PeerSpective uses Skype to communicate with your friends.

• Download the PeerSpective Windows Installer. Run the installer to set up PeerSpective.

• Allow PeerSpective to talk to Skype. Skype will pop up a notification asking for a plugin authorization. Click on socialvpn.exe and select Allow this program to use Skype.

  

  

• Configure the proxy. This tells your web browser to use PeerSpective. This step depends on which web browser you are using: Internet Explorer or Firefox.

  INTERNET EXPLORER

  • In Internet Explorer, open Internet Options... from the Tools menu, and select Connections.

  • Select the LAN Settings... button.

    

  • Select the option Use automatic configuration script and enter http://localhost:8000/proxy.pac into the field.

    

  FIREFOX

  • In Firefox, Options from the Tools menu, and select Advanced.

  • Select the Network tab and click on the Settings... button.

    

  • Select the option Automatic proxy configuration URL: and enter http://localhost:8000/proxy.pac into the field.

    

• You're now connected! Run a Google search to test PeerSpective.

• Finally, set up your bookmarks so that you can use the recommended pages feature. Instructions for doing this.
